Last Friday in the activity we did during business class, we were asked to create a product, based on the ideas of a bottle of glue, a pen and a play shovel. My group which consisted of Nelson, Brian, Salman and I came up with the idea of a mining kit. With the bottle of glue representing a torch light, the pen representing a communication device (specifically a walkie talkie) and the play shovel representing a digging device. It was rather exciting working with people from different cultures and the range of ideas we were able to share.
It was exciting being able to put what we had learnt into practice in class even though the product wasn't real it gave us a vague idea of the sort of challenges we would face as entrepreneurs. The exercise showed that in the business world when coming up with an idea you would only be able to work with a small market and also a small range of resources to be able to come up with a golden ticket idea. We also came up with more ideas but were not able to finalise those products due to the time restraint. One of the ideas I liked was a water bottle sort of cleansing device. Where the you could pour any form of water then it would flow through a water cleansing funnel, then into the bottle, then the funnel could be removed in order to drink the water.
The exercise really helped me get introduced to the course and I definitely look forward to other activities like this that will help broaden my business horizon.
Great start, well done.
